Why Mylar on the exteriors? Is it really necessary? What are the advantages?: Mylar is necessary which is why our customers have overwhelmingly requested it and why we go through the time and expense to hand roll it on the exterior of every Sun-Foil we sell. In addition to giving a distinctively stylish look to your Sun-Foils, Mylar adds rigidity, endurance in high temperatures and most importantly protects your glass from scratching that could occur with screens made from Astro-Foil alone.
What's the difference between Gold and Silver Mylar?: Nothing. Both options use the same high quality material, it's simply a matter of personal preference.
Are the suction cups really necessary?: It has been our experience over the years that screens relying on a friction fit alone don't always stay in place. This is why Sun-Foils come installed with strategically placed suction cups that work in conjunction with a friction fit to ensure that they will always stay in place protecting your expensive interiors and avionics.
What if my suction cups wear out?: Sun-Foil will gladly replace any suction cups free of charge upon request for the life of your screens.
How long will my Sun-Foils last?: With proper care and storage, Sun-Foils will protect your aircraft for many years to come. We know of many Sun-Foils still in use fifteen years after purchase. Again, the key is proper care and storage.
How do I care for my Sun-Foils?: It's fairly simple. First, clean them occasionally with a soft cloth. As for storage, simply roll your screens up securing them with the attached Velcro strap and place them into the personalized black bag that we provide. Avoid using an outside cover in conjunction with Sun-Foils as it could cause heat damage to the windscreen, and do not use Sun-Foils if your windows are tinted dark black in your aircraft.
